With over fifteen years of makeup experience under her belt, Angie Parker has traveled the world for the sake of beauty. I sat down with Angie for a quick q + a the other day.
Beauty Bizz: Where are you from originally?
AP: The Isle of Man (a small island located between England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland in the Irish Sea. The island has its own government with its own parliament)
BB: What would you be doing if you weren't a makeup artist?
AP: I would be a therapist.
BB: Any guilty pleasures?
AP: Champagne!
BB: Is there a person whose makeup you would love to do but haven't gotten a chance to yet?
AP: I always wanted to work with Jessica Stam and I recently got to do that. Other than Jessica, I always wanted to work with Kate Moss.
BB: What are some things in your kit that you can't live without?
AP: I have a lot of products by Linda Cantello. They've unfortunately been discontinued so I try to squeeze out every drop. Also, NARS foundations- great colors and not too heavy- and also Christian Dior eyeshadow palettes.
BB: What are some of your own personal beauty rituals?
AP: As a makeup artist and a mother, I try to keep things simple. I always wash my face both morning and night and I always moisturize. I also drink a lot of water and eat well and I never walk out the door without a little bit of eyeliner, a little foundation, a little lipgloss, etc.
BB: What is one of your best memories from a job?
AP: Besides working with a lot of incredible people, my job also brings me to a lot of amazing places. One of my best memories is from two years ago when I went to Tanzania on a safari. We were staying in these incredible bungalows, showering outside with elephants walking around. It was just amazing with the bright pink sun and the elephants just walking around us.
BB: Is there any advice you would give a new makeup artist just starting out?
AP: I would tell them to assist as much as possible. To assist, learn as much as you can and really work every angle- and not party too hard!
